Crypto Profit Calculator
The gross move on a coin isn't what lands in your account — exchange fees on both the buy and the sell come out first. This works out your real net profit or loss on a round-trip, in dollars and as a return on what you actually put in.
- • Cost = buy price × amount · Proceeds = sell price × amount.
- • Fees = (cost + proceeds) × fee % — the exchange charges each side.
- • Net profit = proceeds − cost − fees · Return = net profit ÷ cost.
Worked example: buy 0.5 BTC at $30,000, sell at $45,000, 0.1% fee → cost $15,000, proceeds $22,500, fees $37.50, net ≈ $7,462.50 (+49.75%).
This is the math on one trade you specify — not a prediction, and it ignores spread/slippage and any withdrawal or network fees. Curious whether a rule for buying and selling this coin would have beaten simply holding it? That's a backtest, not a calculator. Educational tool, not advice.
A calculator shows what a rule should do on paper. Whether a strategy actually beats simply buying and holding — costs on, losses shown, no hindsight — is a different question, and the only one that pays. Most rules don't beat holding; the backtest is how you find the rare few that do — so when you build one that survives, you'll know it isn't a fake edge, then prove it forward before you risk real money. It won't tell you you'll win — nothing honest can.
